Kathmandu, Oct 23 : President Bidya Devi Bhandari returned home on Wednesday evening after wrapping her visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Japan.
President Bhandari embarked on Myanmar visit at the friendly invitation of her Burmese counterpart Win Myint. She left for Myanmar on October 16.
She was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Chairperson of National Assembly Ganesh Timilsina, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwor Pokhrel, ministers and deputy leader of parliamentary party of Nepal Communist Party, Subash Nembang among others.
During her visit to Myanmar, she held separate talks with Burmese President Myint and State Councilor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi.
As part of her visit, she also paid an official visit to Japan from October 20 to 22 after wrapping her Myanmar visit, where she attended the Japan’s Emperor Naruhito’s enthronement on October 22.
President Bhandari was accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shanker Das Bairagi and secretary at the Office of President, Dr Hari Poudel.
The President’s other entourage includes Personal Secretary to the President, Dr Bheshraj Adhikari, as well as the high ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Office of President.
