Baitadi, Nov 4 : Seventy-two local level wards, out of 84, in Baitadi are running without secretaries. The situation has hampered the service delivery at most of the local levels, locals said. Baitadi lies in the Far-West Province.
None of the wards at Shibanath rural municipality, Pancheshwor rural municipality, Melauli municipality and Sigas rural municipality has secretaries at present and their works are being executed with the help of technical assistants, office assistants and social mobilisers.
As said by Patan municipality spokesperson, Lok Bahadur Bhandari, the post of ward secretary at seven, out of 10 wards in the municipality, is unoccupied.
Similarly, only one ward at the Dilashaini rural municipality has secretary and remaining six wards are without one.
Two wards, out of eight in Dogadakedar rural municipality; one ward, out of ten in Purachaundi municipality; one ward, out of eight in Surnaya rural municipality; and four, out of 11 in the Dashrathchand municipality, are functioning with the presence of secretaries, people’s representatives and employees said.
Service recipients have complained that in absence of the ward secretaries, they are forced to visit the centers of rural municipalities and municipalities to seek services which are supposed to be delivered by the ward offices. The situation arose following the employees adjustment process.
