Pokhara: Representatives from China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry have agreed to collaborate in the areas, including trade expansion and technology transfer.
The agreement was reached on Monday following discussion between the office-bearers and members of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a Chinese delegation headed by CCPIT general secretary Wang Wirong.
The Chinese delegation comprises 10 industrialists and entrepreneurs of Xining city of Qinghai province. Xining is an old city located in the western belt of China.
The major responsibilities of the CCPIT include implement relevant major national development strategies, and promote foreign trade, bilateral investment and economic & technological cooperation; carry forward cooperation with overseas trade promotion counterparts; receive overseas high-end trade and economic delegations; organize Chinese trade and economy delegations to visit foreign countries, among others.
The delegation head Wang reiterated China’s interest to have friendly relations with its neighbours and promote bilateral trade.
He also pledged to help promote handicrafts and other ancient and indigenous products of Pokhara in Chinese markets and contribute to promote tourism in Pokhara.
He expressed readiness to export goods produced in Xining city if needed.
Acting Chair of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Narayan Koirala urged Chinese side to cooperate in the export of Nepali handicrafts and domestic products.
Likewise, Bindu Korala, Vice-Chair of the Chamber towards Industry said the Pokhara Chamber could play bridging role in importing Chinese technology to Nepal.
Chamber general secretary Arjun Pokharel urged the Chinese delegation to make publicity of the 2019 internal tourism year announced by the Gandaki State government and 2020 Nepal visit year announced by the Nepal government in Chinese markets.
On the occasion, Chinese industrialist and entrepreneurs informed the representatives of Pokhara Chamber about their products and pledged to help promote the products of Nepal and Pokhara.
