107-year-old Sapkota felicitated in Gaindakot

Kathmandu: Bhumiswor Sapkota, 107, a local of Gaindakot municipality-8, Bijayanagar, has been felicitated in recognition of his social contributions.

The Nawalpur chapter of Shree Vaisnab Council honoured the centenarian Sapkota as the senior-most member of the Vaisnab community.

Council Chapter ex-chair Tikaram Kandel ‘Madha’ said that Sapkota has been honoured with letter of appreciation and shawl in recognition of his longstanding contributions to society and humanity through religious front.

Commenting after the felicitation, his son Tilak Sapkota, a social reformer, said the honour has imparted a message that senior citizens’ social contributions are acknowledged in one way or another.

The Council also honoured centenary Sapkota’s son Tilak Sapkota and daughter-in-law Durga Devi for providing adequate care to him. The council honoured them amidst a programme on the occasion of its general assembly held in Gaindakot-1 on Sunday.
