Kathmandu, Aug 17: Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said there are more opportunities for exploration and development of entrepreneurship at home than in foreign and urged youths to take its leadership.
In his address to the ‘Entrepreneurship Motivation Conclave’ organised by the Forum for Nation Building, Nepal and Entrepreneurship Youth Creative National Campaign in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the Minister said it was necessary for youths to unlearn the perspective that they could achieve everything they aspire in foreign land.
Describing Nepal as a land rich in opportunities, the Minister said the government ensured the facilities of soft loan, grants and discount in tax to promote economic opportunities within the country.
“The growing perception among youths that their status will improve once they reach foreign soil is totally wrong,” the Minister said, adding that Nepal’s tourism industry was improving and the IT sector here indicated promising potentialities for further advancement.
“Nation’s economy in son the path of recovery and proactive and positive approaches and actions are needed to meet the targets of economic prosperity,” he said.
Also speaking on the occasion, former Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada and Rastriya Banijya Bank CEO Kiran Kumar Shrestha urged youths to seek career within the country, taking advantages of various schemes from the government and banks meant targeted at them.
As Shrestha apprised, the banking sector has introduced 10 schemes for entrepreneurship development including for women and students, but expected results have remained unmet yet.
