Published Date : July 27, 2024

Kathmandu, July 27: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli asserted that Nepal has an atmosphere conducive to foster art and literature.

Unveiling various books penned by writer Netra Prasad Gautam here today, PM Oli reiterated that our country is a productive place for literary creations and is provenance of knowledge.

PM Oli further said, “When human experiences and feelings are accumulated and tested, it becomes knowledge. The collection and distribution of knowledge began from this part of the globe.”

According to him, Nepal had a favorable environment for the poets to compose poetry being inspired by the nature. Towards this, the septuagenarian leader extended best wishes to 81-year-old writer Gautam for his continuity of literary profession.

Referring to great literati such as Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, Motiram Bhatta, Lekhnath Poudel, Bal Krishna Sama, Laxmi Prasad Devkota among others that were born in Nepal, the PM viewed that Nepalis possessed an art and talent to compose songs and lyrical phrases impromptu and sing in the ‘rodhi ghar’ .

On the occasion, PM Oli launched Gautam’s three books namely ‘Mero Itihas’ (My history), “Netraka thin khandakavya” (three short epics of Netra) and “Bhut Pichaska Katha” (ghost stories).

Expecting more books from octogenarian writer Gautam in coming days, PM Oli assured that senior citizens need not worry about illness since, he argued, that medical science had fared well in developing various treatment method and tools.

He cited his own story of living with two transplanted kidneys and stressed that the methods invented by science and technology should be used for benefit of humans.

On the occasion, CPN (UML) General-Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Deputy General-Secretary Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Advisor committee chairperson Amrit Kumar Bohora and critic Rabindra Bhattarai discussed the personality and works of writer Gautam.
