Afghan Volleyball Team Arrives in Nepal

            Kathmandu: A national volleyball team of Afghanistan arrived Tuesday in Nepal to take part in the AVC Central Zone Men Volleyball Tournament scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from coming August 19.

It continues for a week.  Officials of the Nepal Volleyball Association reached Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to welcome the guest team.  

            Nepal and Afghanistan are playing two friendship matches on August 14 and 15. The matches will be held at the Lakhankhel-based Nepal Army’s covered hall.

A total of seven countries: host Nepal, present champion Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Kirgizstan and Bangladesh are competing for the title.   

            In the previous tournament held three years ago in Maldives, Nepal had won the bronze which is the sole award Nepal has clinched so far in the international volleyball.            

 Eim Bahadur Rana is the captain of Nepali team which comprises Hari Hajur Thapa, Narendra Giri, Bishal BK, Raj Kumar Niraula, Hari Adhikari, Durga Khadka, Deepak Raj Joshi, Dhan Bahadur Bhatta Chhetri, Rajendra Bista, Kul Bahadur Thapa, Tekraj Awasthi, Binod Bahadur Chand and Ishwor Thapa Magar.
