Over 100 receives disability ID cards

Lalitpur, Aug 20: As many as 1,123 people have received disability identity cards from Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) in a month.

According to LMC sources, 52 female and 60 male obtained the cards during the period since the metropolis announced the scheme.

The scheme has been in effect since 10 July, informed Maheswori Bista, Chief Officer of Women Development Section of LMC.

The inflow of people with disability has increased to the LMC office with the announcement of the ID card plan, she added.

The card will be easier for the people with disability to get concession on surface transport, health treatment and air services.

There are 56 people with disabilities in ward 6, 56 in ward 7 and 58 in ward 8, informed Shova Kharel, Women Development Officer.

“Data collection of disability in other 26 wards is underway. We will come up with new scheme for them as well after the completion of data collection”, she added.
