Tourism and Mountaineering Studies Academy to be established

Kathmandu, Sept 21: The government is to establish ‘Tourism and Mountaineering Studies Academy’ to produce sufficient human resources for the tourism sector.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, said that the process to establish the academy has been forwarded with an objective of producing skilled and capable human resources in tourism sector.

During the discussion with the media persons of different media covering the tourism beat on Saturday, Minister Bhattarai said that a draft of the bill has been prepared for the establishment of the academy and sent to the concerned ministry for suggestion.

He further said that the academy would help to produce adequate number of capable and skilled human resources as adequate number of human resource is needed to make the ambit of development and promotion of tourism sector widen.   

Minister Bhattarai said that tourism sector is the main pillar of economic prosperity.  There is ‘Nepal Mountain Academy’ in Nepal that produces human resources related to mountaineering as well as impart training including for the trekking guide.

The Tourism Minister said that activities are underway to collect suggestions with experts and stakeholders for the establishment of ‘Flying School’ in order to establish pilots in the country.

Nepal will be removed from EU’s aviation security list soon

He expressed the belief that Nepal would be removed from EU’s aviation security list as it has been achieving progress as per EU’s interest.

Initiative was underway through ambassador of EU and Nepali diplomatic mission in concerned countries over the issue, he claimed that Nepal would be removed the EU’s security list soon as environment conducive is being created in this regard.

Soft therapy to improve Nepal Airlines Corporation

The Tourism Minister underscored the need of soft therapy for effective management of NAC and to improve its quality. He said necessary decision would be taken soon for the same.

 Minister Bhattarai said that activities would be carried out to improve NAC’s management on the basis of report recently submitted by NAC Reform Suggestion Taskforce. He further said that different activities including infrastructure development, tourism destination promotion and international marketization have been accelerated targeting the Visit Nepal Year 2020.
