Prachanda says govt has given priority to investment-friendly environment

            Butwal, Sept 26 : Chairperson of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that it was necessary to create environment conducive where domestic investors could invest without any doubt.

            Inaugurating the Tilottama Investment Summit-2076 organised by Tilottama municipality on Thursday, Chair Dahal said the government has given priority to the issue of creating investment-friendly environment while making its policy and programme.

            He also urged the local levels to make plans to attract domestic investors by revising laws and acts in order to create environment of trust to foreign investors for the investment. 

            Suggesting to pay attention in tourism infrastructure development as state 5 has immense potentialities of tourism development, Chair Dahal,”The state has immense potentialities as the state-5 is the birthplace of Gautam Buddha.”

            He expressed the view that change in the thought and style was necessary as the incumbent government has not been able to address the people’s expectation.

            Similarly, Chief Minister of state-5, Shanker Pokhrel, called the investors to invest being confident, saying environment conducive for investment has been created in the state.

            Saying the state government was active for the prosperity of the state, Chief Minister Pokhrel said that achieving 7.1 per cent economic growth rate by the state-5 as compared to other states was satisfactory beginning. 

            He said that there was strong support of the state to make the Tilottama investment summit a success.

            Likewise, Finance Minister of the federal government, Dr Yubraj Khatiwada, suggested the state-5 government to move ahead collaborating with private sector for the development and prosperity of the city.

            He also asked to make land-use policy in local levels. Saying the government has forwarded a concept of mega city by linking Tilottama city with other cities for the management of public transport, Minister Khatiwada urged to pay attention to fulfill the plan.

            State-3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel stressed the need of making some revision on the policy to create investment-friendly environment.

            He further said that all should be responsible and accountable as question could be raised over federalism if local levels do not carry out work honestly.   

            CM Poudel expressed the belief that the Tilottama Investment Summit would be successful.

            Similarly, Chief Minister of Province No 2 Lal Bahadur Raut underscored the need to formulate an investment-friendly policy and ensure investment security to attract foreign investment.

            Drawing the attention of the federal government to take into account the above-mentioned things to attract foreign investment in the Province, CM Raut blamed that investment-friendly policy and laws could not be enabled due to some unfriendly policy and laws for foreign investment in the federal government.

            He suggested the government to make amendment in the unfriendly policy and lay foundation for the foreign investors to consider an investment in Nepal.

            Likewise, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) General-Secretary Bishnu Prasad Poudel countered CM Raut and said that environment for attracting foreign investment in Nepal was being enable and urged the investors to invest in Nepal without any fear.

            Pokharel assured that the NCP-led government was ready to create investment-friendly environment in the country.

            Stating that there was a huge possibility of investment in Rupandehi which has already created a niche for itself as an educational hub, he appealed the prospective investors, “Invest within the parameter of the existing laws and make profit. We ensure investment security.”

            Similarly, House of Representative (HoR) member and Nepali Congress’s Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand said it was responsibility of one and all to make the Investment Summit a success.

            He viewed that the transportation of the goods/products was relatively easier for Rupandehi district since Tilottama town was linked with road network.

            Another HoR member Ghanashyam Bhusal underlined foreign investment for economic prosperity of the country. He said that government was ready to ensure investment security and play the role of interface for the investors and labourers.

            Tilottama Municipality Mayor Basudev Ghimire argued that the Investment Summit would be important for the prosperity of the country rather than Tilottama Municipality.

            He also appealed the investors to consider investment in Tilomatta town without having to worry about security concerns.

            More than 800 participants have been  participating in the Summit, including foreign investors, local investors, representatives from the foreign diplomatic missions, ministers from the federal government, Chief Ministers of various states and high-ranking officials of the government, said Spokesperson of Tilottama Municipality Surendra Shree.            

Experts will hold moderate sessions on the opportunities of investment, challenges.
