Twenty-five countries participating in Tripitaka recitation

Rupandehi, Nov 7 : Twenty-five countries would participate in international-level Tripitaka recitation this year scheduled in Lumbini, the birth place of Gautam Buddha.

Tripitaka recitation is taking place for the second time with support of the State-5 government Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, the Lumbini Development Trust and Thai Monastery.

The Tripitaka Recitation Organising Committee is the main organiser.

The programme would take place at Mayadevi Temple premises from November 14-16. Secretary at the Organising Committee, Hem Bahadur Bista, said that Buddhist monks and nuns from 25 countries including Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Korea and Japan would participate in the programme.

Binaya Pitaka, Sutra Pitaka and Abhidhamma Pitaka that comprise the Tripitaka would be recited in the three-day programme.

A programme has been scheduled where Nepali monk would lead the Sutra recitation in the first day while a monk of Myanmar would lead the Abhidhamma Pital recitation in second day.

Similarly, Thai monk would lead Binaya Pitaka recitation in the third day.
