Businessman Roop Jyoti arrested in TIA

Kathmandu: Roop Jyoti of Jyoti Group has been arrested Thursday evening.

A team of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu arrested him from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 8:30 in the night immediately after he got off the Silk Air flight coming from Singapore.

Police say the former assistant finance minister has been arrested for fraud in real estate but has not revealed the details. SP with the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu Ashok Singh confirmed Jyoti’s arrest. He added that a fraud complaint has been lodged against Jyoti.  

Spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu DSP Habindra Bogati said Jyoti has been arrested for investigation of a fraud complaint lodged by Bijendra Man Malla and others.
