“Serve the people and hurt none,” 98-year-old voter’s blessing to candidates

Pokhara : As the by-election is nearing, candidates vying in the November 30’s poll are keeping busy in door-to-door promotions.

The candidates contesting from Kaski constituency no 2 for the House of Representatives (HoR) post have also stepped up their election campaigns, one among them being reaching out to the elderly voters in their constituency and seeking their blessings as well as asking about their expectations from the people’s representatives.

One among the oldest voters who is considerably drawing attention from the candidates and fellow voters in the locality is 98-year-old Trilochana Acharya.

The Mahakalichowk-resident Acharya has been drawing almost of the candidates contesting the upcoming by-elections to whom she has been offering a piece of advice, “Work for the greater good of the people and the country”, besides offering her best wishes.

Towards this, she recently offered tika to Nepali Congress (NC)’s candidate Khemraj Poudel and blessed, “May you win the election, serve the people, service the nation.”Do not hurt anyone.”

The elderly was of the view that may the right candidate with a ‘strong sense of responsibility’ towards public and nation win, said Poudel.

Poudel is confident of his win since he possess all those qualities that meets the expectation of the voters like Acharya.

The post of HoR in Kaski constituency no 2 has been vacant since the demise of then Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari on February 27 this year.

The spouse of Adhikari is also one of the candidates contesting from the same constituency in the upcoming by-election. She is the candidate from the ruling Bepal Communist Party (NCP).
