65.43 percent voters’ turnout in by-election

Kathmandu : The voters’ turnout in the by-election held on Saturday for a Member of the House of Representatives, Member of State Assembly, and at local levels has been estimated 65.43 percent, according to Election Commission.

The EC informed that 297,136 out of total 454,114 voters participated in the election. The voting for the election of a Member of the House of Representatives in constituency 2 of Kaski saw 65 percent voters’ turnout, while voting for election of State Assembly member in Bhaktapur had 70 percent, in Baglung 61 percent and in Dang 67 percent.

Similarly, for the election of Mayor in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, voting percentage was 59. Phalgunanda Rural Municipality, Makalu Rural Municipality and Pipara Rural Municipality had 66, 65 and 60 percent voters’ turnout respectively.

They are electing Chairpersons. But, the election for Vice-Chairperson at Kharpunath Rural Municipality witnessed 85 percent voters’ turnout.

The Election Commission shared at the press conference that Thabang Rural Municipality-1 election for Ward Chairperson witnessed 16.4 percent voters’ turnout- least among the voting.

Except minor incidents, no untoward incidents occurred in course of the voting, according to Chief Election Commissioner, Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, extending thanks to all sides for their cooperation to make by-election successful. 

NCP candidate Tamang elected in Punarbas Municiplaity-3

Kanchanpur : Nepal Communist Party (NCP) candidate Krishna Bahadur Tamang has been elected to the post of Chairperson at Punarbas Municipality Ward-3. 

He received 528 votes while his nearest rival Nepali Congress candidate Deep Bahadur Tamang got 310 votes. Out of total 1,199 voters, 924 participated in the voting, said election officer Gopal Bastola.

NCP candidate Budhathoki elected in Kumakh Municiplaity-5

Salyan : Nepal Communist Party (NCP) candidate Dharme Budhathoki has been elected to the post of Chairperson at Kumakh Municipality Ward-5 in the district. 

He garnered 792votes while his nearest rival Nepali Congress candidate Deep Khada Bahadur Bohara got 251 votes.  Out of 1,839 voters, only 1,124 cast ballots in the ward, said election officer Hari Bahadur Budhathoki.
