Post-mortem report confirms of Bhagarathi’s murder after rape

BAITADI: It has been confirmed that Bhagarathi Bhatt, 17, was killed after being raped in Dogada-Kedar Municipality-7 of Baitadi. A post-mortem conducted at the District Hospital, Baitadi, concluded that Bhatta was killed after being raped.

According to sources at District Police Office, Baitadi, the doctors involved in the post-mortem said that Bhatta was raped.

It is said that the head and hands of the body were injured while retaliating. Bhatta also has bruises on her neck. A police officer said that she also had wounds on her vagina. He said that the injuries on various parts of her body made him look like she had been forcibly dragged away.

“Until yesterday, there was a dilemma whether it was only murder or murder after rape,” he said. Chief of the Far Western Provincial Police Office Uttam Raj Subedi also visited the spot on Sunday morning and inspected the investigation.

Bhatta, a class 12 student of Sanatan Dharma Secondary School, did not return home till Wednesday evening when her relatives called the police and neighbors. The body was found 50 meters away from the main road on Thursday morning on the way home from School.

Bhatta’s mobile phone was found after using trained dog.

SSP Mukesh Kumar Singh of the Far-Western Provincial Police Office said, “Police are investigating the incident with full sensitivity. Results will come out soon.”
