Gold shopkeeper Sah shot and robbed in Mahottari

MAHOTTARI: A group of dacoits has robbed a gold and silver shop in Samsi village of Mahottari district last night.

According to Prakash Bista, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mahottari, a group of dacoits shot and injured all the members of Rajiv Jewelers (Gold and Silver Shop) at his house 200 meters north-west of Samsi-Gaushala Road in Samsi-1 last night.

The robbers broke into the back door of the house in a group of 9 to 10 at around 2 pm and shot the shopkeeper and 50-year-old Birendra Sah in the back.

According to DSP Bista, Sah’s wife Sushila Devi, 45, son Shambhu, 25, daughter Kanchan Kumari, 20, and another son 17 years was hit in the face and head with a rod and seriously injured.

The injured have been taken to Godavari Hospital in Janakpur for treatment. Their condition is said to be critical. A group of dacoits looted Rs 200,000 in cash, five tolas of gold and 172 tolas of silver from a shop run by Birendra and looted a total of Rs 997,000, according to police.

A large police force has been mobilized in the area to search for the dacoits from the District Police Office, Mahottari and other police units.
