KATHMANDU: The coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 1,889 people across the country in 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 7,187 RT-PCR tests conducted in different districts on Wednesday confirmed coronavirus in 1,889 people.

Similarly, 4,381 antigen tests have shown coronavirus infection in 1,003 people. Likewise, the number of coronavirus appearing in RT-PCR tests in Nepal has reached 638,805.

Similarly, 3,597 people recovered or discharged from hospitals in 24 hours. The number of people recovering from COVID-19 infection has reached 596,132.

According to the ministry, 41 more people have died across the country. The number of deaths from COVID-19 infection in Nepal has reached 9,112.

Currently, among the active infected persons, 30,544 people are staying in home isolation and 3,017 in institutional isolation. Among them, 627 in ICUs and 175 in ventilators across the country.

A total of 2,601,316 have received first dose of vaccine while 755,019 people so far have received second dose. The country has suffered a huge setback for it’s effort to mass vaccination after India and the COVAX could not provide vaccines, mainly Serum’s Covishield.

Nearly, one million people, particularly old-age people, have received first dose of Covishield vaccine four months ago. With the blockade of vaccine export by Indian government, Nepal could not get vaccine on time.

Likewise, Nepal was also looking for COVAX facility. Even, a promised USA vaccine support is not arriving.
