In Kathmandu, Johnson’s vaccine will be given to above 18 years of age

KATHMANDU: In Kathmandu, all citizens above 18 years of age will get Johnson & Johnson vaccine against COVID-19 from Wednesday.

The vaccine was introduced to citizens between the ages of 50 and 54, people with disabilities, refugees, citizens traveling to countries where the Johnson vaccine is mandatory, and health workers who missed out on the first phase.

However, Kathmandu Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli informed that the vaccine will be given to those above 18 years of age.

The Department of Health Services had provided 140,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine to Kathmandu district. CDO Parajuli said that they have decided to give the vaccines to the citizens above 18 years of age as there are about one lakh doses of vaccines left even after conducting the vaccination program for two days.

The United States had donated through COVAX arrangement 1.5 million doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine to Nepal.This vaccine is only given in one dose.
