KATHMANDU: Senior litterateur and academician Bijay Bajimaya passed away on Sunday. He was 64.
Born in Mohariya Tole of Pokhara, Bajimaya had made significant contributions to Nepali literary field through his poems, stories, songs and other literary creations.
Samaya Bhaneko Samaya Ho (an anthology of poems) and Antatwogatwa (a collection of stories) are his published creations while around half a dozen literary texts are in the pipeline for the publication.
According to poet Krishu Chhetri, Bajimaya has received Byathit Kavya Puraskar, Yuba Barsha Moti Puraskar, Manshree Purasakar, Rastriya Prativa Puraskar and many other prizes for his literary works.
In addition to writing, Bajimaya edited dozens of literary texts during his literary journey.
Bajimaya had also served as the Chairman of Cultural Corporation, Board Member of Nepal Academy, Board Member of Basundhara Man Pragya Pratisthan, Chairman of Pokhreli Cultural Society and other literary institutions too.
Bajimaya was unmarried.
Bajimaya’s body was taken to his hometown, Pokhara, on Sunday itself for the final rites.
