540 new cases of COVID-19, one death in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: A total of 540 new COVID-19 patients and one infection related death across the country have been added in the past 24 hours.

With this, the number of active infection cases has hit 5,431 while the death toll from the virus reached 11,602.

The Kathmandu Valley has 2,476 active infection cases (1,302 in Kathmandu, 621 in Lalitpur and 553 in Bhaktapur).

The new infection caseloads were from the total 12,099 tests, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The recovery figure has reached 813,447 with 271 in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate was 97.9 percent while the infection rate 16.9 percent.

The death rate from the virus is 1.4 percent.

The total 120,653 people have been vaccinated against the deadly infection in the past 24 hours.

So far, 79 infected people have been admitted to intensive care units and 14 are on a ventilator support.

Similarly, 5,069 people have been in home-isolation, 362 in institutional-isolation and 113 at quarantine facility.

The districts having no active cases of COVID-19 are Rasuwa, Manang, Mustang, Humla and Mugu.
