Lalitpur, Aug 4: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the officials from Road Department to pay heed to quality while planning so that robust infrastructures could be constructed.
Addressing the concluding session of the review seminar on the projects conducted in the last fiscal year by the Road Department on Sunday, PM Oli said safety of both the road and peoples must be ensured. The current plans for development projects must be executed in time, he underlined.
“It is imperative to avoid haphazard construction of road. The roads that link human settlements with shortest possible distance should be prioritized. So, prevent opening tracks in unnecessary places,” PM Oli reminded, adding that people’s need should be preferred to political pressure.
PM Oli also suggested the Road Department that it worked in close collaboration with the Department of Forest. Coordination among ministries is equally important to accomplish projects in time. Oli recollected that he had laid emphasis on infrastructure building during his first stint.
Sustainable infrastructure is the need hour, according to the head of the government. Moreover, the PM viewed plan could be prepared for inter-state transportation with ships and railway expansion.
The PM argued that privatization introduced after the 2046 BS change in system did not yield good result. He however claimed the period from 2070BS to 2080BS is not only a decade of political change but also an economic progress.
On the occasion, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, informed that 19 reports from over 90 bodies were presented in the meeting. He urged the ministry secretary to submit reports on the project with weak progress in a month.
