Bhaktapur reports 13 dengue cases this year

Bhaktapur, Sept 1: Bhaktapur district in State 3 has been identified as one of the highly vulnerable zones in terms of dengue menace.

According to District Public Health Office (DPHO) Bhaktapur’s health officer Parthamani Neupane, this year there was a four times rise in dengue cases in the district as compared to the last year.

Twelve people including an employee at the Bhaktapur Hospital have been diagnosed with dengue infection.

Of them, two are being treated at the same hospital while remaining referred to Teku Hospital, Bhaktapur Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Rabibhusan Suwal said.

The hospital has no provision for the dengue test kits, that’s why; it could not provide test services for the suspected people.

Health officer Neupane further shared that only three persons had caught dengue in the district as per the medical reports last year, but the number has so far reached 12 this year, prompting to launch an awareness campaign at the people’s level.

People have been advised to take measures to prevent mosquito bite at daytime, to remove water pits and bushes nearby houses and settlements, to keep the house area and surrounding clean and to take help of insecticides spray as the preventive measures against dengue.
