KATHMANDU: Volunteer Corps Nepal (VCN) in support with Pema Chhewang Sherpa and New Work Mustang Community – Mr. Tsepak D Gurung, initiated free ‘Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test’ in Varagung Muktichhetra Rural Municipality of Mustang District in Nepal.
Out of 603 rapid Covid Antigen Tests, 57 People were tested positive. Test was carried out by the Medical Response Team of VCN led by Mrs. Radha Matangi- Vice- President at VCN in coordination with Ward Chairman Gyanendra Sharma, Medical Representative Dr. James Gurung, Health Assistant Mr. khagendra Bohara, Female Community Health Volunteers and local representatives.
During the first 2 days of the campaign on 17th and 18th May 2021 in Rani Pauwa -1, out of 400 individuals, 44 tested positive. The campaign was conducted in support of Health Assistant and local representatives.
During last 2 day of the campaign on 19th and 20th May 2021, testing was organized in health post of Kagbeni-4, for 11 individuals where 3 tested positive.
According to VCN, in Jharkot-1 out of 90 individuals, 10 came out positive and that was done in close coordination with FCHVs and Local Volunteers.
Likewise, in Chengur -2, out of 102 individuals, 1 of them was detected positive, and the campaign was organized in close collaboration with Ward Representatives, Local Community Volunteers and FCHV in community building.
Suspected and tested Covid individuals were provided free medications and advised for strict home isolation.
The VCN has donated 147 antigen testing kits, 100 tablets of medicines (Zinc, Vitamins, Vitamins) 20 sets PPE, 5 packets of Globes and 10 liters of sanitizer to local rural municipality Health Post.
