COVID-19: 4,472 people infected, 92 died in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: The coronavirus infection has been confirmed in additional 4,472 people in the last 24 hours across the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 12,002 RT-PCR and 5,901 antigen tests were performed in the last 24 hours.

Likewise, 6,951 people have found recovered from the virus, but 92 people have lost their lives. With this, the total death toll have reached to 7,990.

A total of 497,960 people recovered from the infection which is 84.2% recovery rate. The ministry says 2,113,080 people have received first dose of vaccine while 691,494 people have received second dose of vaccine. The government have been providing Covishield and Sinopharm’s vero cell vaccine with free of cost.

After Indian government’s export ban on Covishield vaccine, nearly one million people, including above 65 years of age, have been waiting for their second dose of vaccine.

Similarly, the most of the people who lost their lives are from 60 and above age group. According to the ministry, a total of 4,263 aged people died with COVID-19 infection, whereas 1,586 from 50-59 age group, 1175 from 40-49 age group, 667 from 30-39, 227 from 20-29, 37 from 10-19 and 35 from 0-9 age group have lost their lives.

There are still 1,434 people in ICUs and 397 in ventilators across Nepal. A total of 78,364 people are in home isolation and 7,180 in institutional isolation.

According to the Ministry of Health, 790 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Kathmandu, 211 in Sunsari, 190 in Lalitpur, 175 in Morang, 162 in Sindhupalchowk, 136 in Kavrepalanchok, 135 in Bhaktapur, 131 in Chitwan, 130 in Kaski, 129 in Gorkha, 115 in Dhanusha and 103 in Surkhet.

Similarly, 80 cases of corona have been confirmed in Rupandehi, 75 in Rolpa, 71 in Nuwakot, 70 in Palpa, 57 in Nawalparasi East, 53 in Dhading, 54 in Makwanpur, 41 in Dang, 39 in Mahottari, 32 in Kanchanpur, 31 in Jhapa, 27 in Sankhuwasabha, 26/26 in Tehrathum and Lamjung.

Similarly, corona infection has been confirmed in 131 children under the age of 10, while 305 coronavirus infections in the age group of 11-20 years have been added, according to the Ministry.
