Country records 2,445 new cases, 32 deaths in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: In the last 24 hours, an additional 2,445 people have been confirmed infected with the coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the RT-PCR test on 7,833 people confirmed the infection in 1,642 people while 3,831 antigen test showed 803 positive cases.

In the last 24 hours, 1,258 people have recovered from the coronavirus and 32 have died from it. A total of 9,582 have died so far from the COVID-19.

The ministry says, 3,067,118 people so far received first dose of vaccine while 1,134,317 have received second dose of vaccine. There remain 23,334 in home isolation while 2,503 in institutional isolation. So far 564 in ICUs and 155 in ventilators for treatment.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 330 cases of corona have been confirmed in Kathmandu, 184 in Sunsari, 160 in Kaski, 129 in Jhapa and 102 in Morang.

Similarly, 88 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Bhaktapur, 72 in Chitwan, 56 in Lalitpur, 53 in Makwanpur, 51 in Nawalparasi East, 44 in Dhading, 36 in Rupandehi and 32 in Nuwakot.

According to the ministry, 28 people have contracted COVID-19 in Kailali, 25 in Gorkha, 21 in Dolakha, 17 in Dhanusha, 15 in Okhaldhunga, 13 in Kanchanpur, 12 in Gulmi, 11 in Dhankuta, Syangja and 11 in Dang.

Likewise, COVID-19 infection has been confirmed in 42 children under the age of 10 and in 135 people in the age group of 11 to 20 years.
