CHITWAN: Police have arrested a man while investigating the death of Sujita Bhandari, 23, of Rapti Municipality-3 in Eastern Chitwan. Among the arrested is Sukdev Bhandari alias Sachin, 23, of Jhapa-6, Saranamati.
District Police Office informed at a press conference today that Bhandari was arrested from Kathmandu.
According to Superintendent of Police Om Prasad Adhikari, the accused Sukdev was arrested on the complaint of Sujita’s mother Ambika Bhandari. Sujata, who went missing from her house on June 25, was found dead in the Brahmasthani Community Forest near her house on July 4.
According to the police, the arrested Sukdev and Sujita have a love affair. They were also close relatives. The incident took place after Sukdev rejected Sujita’s marriage proposal, police claimed.
When there was a dispute between them on the issue of marriage, Sujita said ‘I will die if I don’t get married’ and Sukdev said ‘do whatever you want’, police said after a preliminary investigation.
The result of the vicera of the deceased Sujita is yet to come. Police have demanded five years imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs.50,000 in accordance with Civil Code 2074 BS.
