COVID-19: 2,482 new cases, 44 fatalities in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: A total of 2,482 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The new cases were confirmed from 9,711 PCR tests and 5,579 antigen tests conducted in various laboratories across the country during the same period. This takes the COVID-19 caseload to 752,863.

Similarly, 1,781 people enjoyed recovery from the flu-like infection in a day taking the COVID-19 recovery caseload to 703,964 as of now, the Ministry said in its routine virtual press meet. The recovery rate is at 93.5 per cent.

Likewise, 44 people succumbed to the deadly infection in the past 24 hours. With this, the number of people dying from coronavirus infection reaches 10,612.

Currently, there are a total of 38,287 active cases across the country. Among them, the critical 610 ones were availing treatment at ICU facilities while 161 in ventilator support.

Rest of the infected ones are in home-isolation, institutional isolation and quarantine facilities.

Meanwhile, 65,066 were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the past 48 hours. The number of fully vaccinated persons stands at 3,909,941.

In Kathmandu Valley, Kathmandu district alone has 6,792 active cases while there are 1,478 in Bhaktapur and 2,216 in Lalitpur, the Ministry said.
