KATHMANDU: Nepal cricket team coach Dave Whatmore has resigned.
Whatmore, who is in Oman for the ICC World Cup League 2, sent his resignation in an email to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Friday.
“Because of my personal and family reasons, I have sent an email saying that I will not be able to join after visiting Oman,” said Chatur Bahadur Chand, president of the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN). “We have not sent a reply to that email. I personally would like to talk with Whatmore.”
Whatmore, 67, was appointed Nepal’s coach only in January. He had a contract with CAN until December. The Nepali team will remain in Oman till September 20. After playing two ODIs against Papua New Guinea, Nepal will be playing League 2 matches against Oman and USA.
