1,756 infection cases, 23 deaths in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: The country has recorded a total of 1,756 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

The infection was from the total 14,334 COVID-19 tests, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. With this, the number of active infection cases has hit 33,000.

Twenty three people have died from the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 10,809.

Likewise, 2,274 infected people have been free of the virus, which is 94.3 percent recovery rate. With this, the recovery figure has reached 723,456 so far. The recovery rate has increased in the past two days.

On Wednesday, the recovery rate was 94.1 percent against 94.3 on Thursday.

Five hundred forty infected people have been admitted to intensive care unit at various hospitals and 156 are on ventilator support.

Similarly, 30,662 are in home-isolation, 2,344 in institutional isolation and 274 in quarantine facility.

On Friday alone, the government vaccinated 164,302 people against the infection.
