COVID-19: 1,640 new cases, 10 fatalities in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: A total of 1,640 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The new cases were confirmed from the 13,455 tests conducted during the same period, said the Ministry in its virtual press routine on Wednesday.

Currently, the number of active cases stands at 29,479. There are over than 500 active cases of coronavirus infection in 17 districts.

Similarly, 2,161 people enjoyed recovery from the flu-like infection in the past 24 hours. The recovery caseload stands at 733,161 as of now which is 94.8 per cent, according to the Ministry.

Likewise, 10 persons succumbed to the deadly infection in a day, taking the COVID-19 fatality caseload to 10,889 till date. The fatality rate stands at 1.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, 123,286 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 on Wednesday alone. A total of 5,683,061 people have received the first dose of the vaccine so far while 5,056,803 have been fully vaccinated to date, the Ministry informed.
