Interim order not issued for Sumargi’s Nepal Satellite Telecom

Published Date : September 15, 2019

Kathmandu, Sept 15: The Supreme Court has denied issuing an interim order in the case related to tax dispute concerning the Nepal Satellite Telecom private limited owned by trader Ajaya Raj Sumargi.

A joint bench of justices Iswar Prasad Khatiwada and Manoj Kumar Sharma handed down the decision today. The order states that the demand for an interim order was not justifiable.

The case was filed by Sumargi after the Nepal Telecom Authority decided to cancel the license of NST. The Large tax payers office had concluded that the NST had embezzled Rs. 4.31 billion in capital gain tax during the sale of 75 per cent of the Telecom’s share seven years ago. Sumargi had challenged the decision in the apex court.
