COVID-19: 16 deaths, 10,000 plus test positive

KATHMANDU: In the last 24 hours, 10,254 persons were tested positive for coronavirus while 16 persons lost lives to the contagion.

The Ministry of Health and Population shared the information that 20,187 persons underwent test in this period.

With this, the number of active infection reached 72,862 in the country.

In the latest update, 708 persons got recovery from the infection.

The recovery so far has reached 820,283. The recovery rate is 90.7 percent now.

16 persons die of contagion

In the last 24 hours, 16 persons lost lives to the contagion. It reached the total deaths to 11,651.

Similarly, the number of districts having more than 500 cases of infection has reached 15.

They are Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Dhanusha, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Makwapur, Kavre, Kaski, Nawalparasi Purva, Banke, Rupandehi and Kailali.

The districts having more than 200 cases of infection are Parsa, Bara, Mahottari, Saptari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahu, Syangja, Baglung, Dang, Surkhet and Kanchanpur.

The infection rate is 17.7 percent.

Currently, there are 71,261 infected persons at home isolation, 1,601 in institutional isolation, 210 in ICU and 37 in ventilator support.

In the last 24 hours, 196,857 persons were vaccinated against coronavirus. So far, more than 16 million received first dose of anti-COVID vaccine while 12 million plus got full dose.

Number of people receiving booster dose has reached 142,589.
