Kathmandu, June 15: Nepal has defeated Oman by 2 wickets in a warm up match held today, in the lead up to the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023.
In the match held at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe, Nepal completed the victory target of 268 runs given by Oman at the loss of 8 wickets in 44.5 overs.
For Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel scored a century including 101 runs in 94 balls. Other notable contributors with the bat including Bhim Sarki, who scored 56 off 74 balls, captain Rohit Kumar Paudel scored 31 off 28 balls and Dipendrasingh Airi added 26 runs off 22 balls. Asif Sheikh scored 23 runs in 24 balls while Kushal Malla contributed 17 runs.
For Oman, Akib Elias took 4 wickets and Faiyaz Butt took 2 wickets.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Oman chose to bat and scored 267 runs after being all out in 49.2 overs. Captain Zeeshan Maqsood scored 109 runs off 106 balls while Soyab Khan scored 38 runs off 68 balls.
Among the bowlers for Nepal, Sompal Kami took 5 wickets and Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets.
The ICC one-day World Cup 2023 qualifier is taking place in Zimbabwe from coming June 3. In the inaugural match, Nepal will play against the hosts.
