Kathmandu, May 4: The weather today will remain partly cloudy in the hilly parts and clear in the rest of the country. Furthermore, there is possibility of light rainfall with thunder and lightning in hilly region of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Province.
This is due to the partial influence of westerly winds coupled with local winds, says the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. There is also possibility of light snowfall in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous region of the country.

02- Govt. to build temporary houses for fire victims
Kathmandu, May 4: The government has started the process of building temporary houses for the fire victims. Prior to this, temporary houses had been constructed for the earthquake victims.
Chief Executive Officer of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), Anil Pokharel, told RSS that the process of constructing temporary houses for the fire victims has started from Friday. The 22nd meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee held on the same day under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane decided to move ahead with the process of constructing temporary houses.
The meeting also decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to the fire victims in two installments at the rate of 25,000 to build temporary houses for families who have lost their homes due to fire, wildfire, earthquake, floods, landslides, lightning, and storm, according to CEO Pokharel.

03- T20 series: Final match between Nepal and West Indies ‘A’ today
Kathmandu, May 4: The final match of the T20 series between Nepal and West Indies ‘A’ is being held at the TU cricket ground in Kirtipur today.
The visiting side has already won the series before the last match, after winning three matches in a row following the first loss. It’s 3-1 currently in favour of West Indies ‘A’.
In the first match of the series, Nepal won by 4 wickets but lost by 10 runs and 76 runs in the second and third match respectively. Likewise, Nepal was defeated by West Indies by 28 runs in the fourth match.

04- Property worth 2.5 million gutted in fire
Kanchanpur, May 4: Property worth 2.5 million rupees was destroyed in a fire that broke out in the house of Jayadev Thagunna of Shuklaphanta Municipality-7 on Friday. The house was also gutted in the fire said to have been caused by an electric short circuit.
According to Police Inspector Bir Bahadur Budhayer of Area Police Office Jhalari, three goats perished in the fire while one buffalo has suffered serious burn injuries. Food, clothes, jewelry, documents and Rs 500,000 in cash were burnt along with the house.
Meanwhile, Nepal Red Cross Society sub-branch Jhalari has provided materials such as tarpaulins, utensils and clothes to the fire victims.

05- 73 succumb to tobacco consumption every day
Bhaktapur, May 4: General Secretary of Right to Health and Tobacco Control Network Nepal Purnabhakta Duwal has said that 73 people die every day in the country due to tobacco consumption.
Speaking at a school-level awareness campaign started by the Youth Creative Society from Friday, he said further tobacco consumption is also costing the country 47 billion rupees annually.
The Tobacco Products Regulation Act prohibits the sale of tobacco to children under 16 years of age and prohibits the sale and consumption of tobacco within 100 meters of the school. The school-level awareness campaign is being organised with the aim of keeping children away from tobacco consumption.
Also on the occasion, Dr Aditya Ranjit of Ganeshman Singh Memorial Hospital called upon the students to work to spread the message against tobacco from house to house to protect the society from cancer, diabetes, heart disease, asthma and other diseases caused by tobacco consumption including smoking. He emphasized that the state should ban smoking in public places as a person who smokes not only makes himself sick but also makes his family and people around him sick.
President of Youth Creative Society, Sharada Lama, said that students should be sensitized to keep them away from tobacco addiction that could start since a young age.

06- Relief support to fire victims of Chimti
Rajbiraj (Saptari), May 4: Various social organizations including the Nepal Muslim Social Service, have provided relief support to the fire victims of Chimti in Mahadeva Rural Municipality-1.
Relief materials including utensils were provided to 62 fire-affected families of Chimti tole, said vice president of Nepal Muslim Social Service Saptari, Afroz Alam.
Likewise, the Nepal-India Friendship Association has provided 10 kilos of rice, two kilos of lentils and salt, one kilo of sugar, clothings and mosquito net to the fire survivors.
Meanwhile, the Saptari Youth Nepal and Noor Welfare Society have been provided daily meals to the fire victims.
In the fire incident that took place on Tuesday, 114 houses of 62 families in Chimti were burnt to ashes.

07- Prosperity possible thru industry, entrepreneurship: Minister Bhandari
Achham, May 4: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, has said a plan would be made for exporting goods produced by Nepali entrepreneurs.
At a news conference organised by Press Chautari Nepal here today, he underscored creation of atmosphere to foster business and entrepreneurship so that national ambition of prosperous Nepal would be realized.
He mentioned that the government was working actively for promotion and development of micro, cottage and small industries in line with the goal of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
Minister Bhandari further argued promotion of the industries based on local raw materials would help reduce ballooning trade deficit. “There is necessary to increase local products. The government has a policy of promotion of agriculture-based industries”, he shared.

08- Fire damages property worth over Rs 460 million in Madhesh Province
Janakpurdham, May 4: Property worth over Rs 460 million have been gutted in fire in various districts of Madhesh Province in the last 10 months, according to the Madhesh Province Police Office.
As per the data the police collected from the districts, fire incidents occurred in all eight districts of the Province during this period. Dhanusha district incurred biggest loss of properties worth over Rs 80 million followed by Mahottari worth Rs 40 million plus.
Similarly, the houses and chattels perished in the fire amounted to Rs 40 million in Sarlahi while Rs 50 million in Saptari, Rs 80 million in Siraha, Rs 49 million in Rautahat, Rs 40 million in Bara and Rs 50 million in Parsa.
Altogether 216 fire incidents were recorded in Siraha district, the highest, with 106 in Sarlahi, the lowest in the Province.
Dearth of rainfall for prolonged period caused soaring heat and hot air, according to police’s estimate. Also, negligence on the part of human and technical issues was reason behind blazes in the Province.

09- RTI effective booster to democracy: President Paudel
Kathmandu, May 4: President Ram Chandra Paudel has viewed right to information (RTI) is a tool to create public trust in democracy.
RTI empowers people and makes public agencies accountable, he said, underlining the need for promoting RTI use to ensure transparency.
President Paudel said it while addressing a special ceremony organized by the National Information Commission at his residence, Shital Niwas, today. The event was held on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of NIC.
“RTI is such tool that makes system transparent and accountable, thereby ending irregularities and establishing good governance. It finally contributes to enliven public trust in democracy,” he observed.
Stating that RTI is a booster to institutional development of democracy, good-governance and meaningful participation of citizens in development works, he emphasized further effective implementation of the RTI.
According to him, it is the natural rights of citizens to know where their money (tax) is going and how it is being spent.
The President further viewed in democracy, being a system inspired by the philosophy of establishing supremacy of sovereign citizens and their freedoms, informed citizens would be the most supreme ones.
“There is provision of fundamental rights for the citizens to know all the information about the governance system,” he reminded, adding that the Article 27 of Constitution has ensured every Nepali citizens the rights to seek and receive any information on matter of public concerns.
At a time when the NIC as well as RTI activists and office-bearers of public agencies are working for effective implementation of the RIT, achieving the objectives of the constitution and laws are still far from satisfaction, he regretted.
“Many citizens are still unaware about their fundamental rights. Effective implementation of RTI is must for it. The supply side of information should be more sensitive for effective implementation. I think that creating awareness among the citizens is essential to empower them to realize the rights “, President Paudel underscored.
Lauding that the Commission has been doing its duties honestly, he expressed the belief that the booklets published in four national languages—Maithali, Awadhi, Tharu and Bhojpuri, today itself helps in conveying necessary information among information seekers and majority of Nepalis.
“The Commission has been establishing rights being responsible for the effective implementation of laws despite limited means and resources. All bodies concerned should be responsible for its further effective enforcement. The government has to pay heed to create awareness among the citizens”, the President Paudel reiterated.
He mentioned that naturally all information is not made public and we all should not forget that five-type of highly sensitive information stipulated by the laws are protected.

10- Ministry warns of action against health facilities running illegally
Kathmandu, May 4: The Ministry of Health and Population has warned of action against the health institutions which are fleecing service seekers.
Those conducting health services against rule will be booked, it said. Issuing a press statement, Undersecretary at the Ministry, Ekdev Khanal, viewed the health facilities which have failed to meet criteria and not taken permission would be taken action based on the complaints lodged by the service seekers.
“Rule 12 (2) of Public Health Regulation, 2077 will be invoked to take punitive measures against the health facilities if they are run without taking permission. Whether they are run privately or based on charity, they must not go beyond the rule,” Khanal reminded, adding that some health facilities as autism therapy centre, child clinic were reported running illegally.

11- APF provides relief materials to Sarlahi fire victims
Barahathawa, May 4: The fire victims of Barauddyorad village from Bishnu rural municipality in Sarlahi district have been provided relief materials. The Armed Police Force’s base camp distributed the relief materials organizing a programme today.
The APF provided the supports to 50 households which survived the fire incident. Deputy Inspector General, Dipendra Shah, Chief of Chhinnamasta Brigade, Mahottari, handed over the relief materials such as blanket, bed sheets, plates, glasses, and water bottles among others.
On the occasion, Chairperson of Bishnu rural municipality, Jawahar Lal Ray Yadav, extended gratitude to the APF for extending support to those living at dire need. Yadav also lauded the role the APF played for the border and disaster management.
The event was also attended by Superintendent of APF in Sarlahi, Binod Raj Khanal, Chairperson of Balara municipality-1, and Bikau Thakur, among others.

12- Govt committed to effective information flow: Minister Sharma
Kathmandu, May 4: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma emphasized on recognition of right to information (RTI) as the responsibility of public agencies so that information flow would be further effective.
Addressing a programme organized at the Office of President-Sheetal Niwas- on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of National Information Commission today, Minister Sharma asserted that it was not optional for public agencies to share information to the citizens, but an obligation whenever they are demanded.
Sharma called for effective implementation of RTI to guarantee citizens’ easy access to information of public concerns and importance, which has role on strengthening of democracy and sustainable peace.
“The RTI practice should be increased also to implement the fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution. The government is firm towards it. Every public agency has designated information officer to provide information on matters of public concerns sought by the public,” the Minister reminded.
Furthermore, the Minister said that spokespersons are designated to share public information through media. All three-tier governments are putting this provision into practice. ‘Hello Sarkar’, the hotline, is also in operation under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to facilitate citizens in seeking information and make public service delivery more effective.
According to her, the incumbent government had emphasized simplifying service delivery and ensuring good-governance since, she argued, public agencies should automatically make some information public while some upon enquiry to assure transparency and good-governance.
She clarified that the government’s performance improves if RTI is enforced correctly.
The Minister also informed that government was responding actively with investigation and action in case of information on irregularities that are brought to public through media stories. She also lauded the role of media which are boosting RTI promotion.
Sharma vowed information update and proactive disclosure. Existing law could be revised to suit changing need. The suggestions from public would be kept in mind for effective RTI enforcement and public service delivery.
“Seeking information is not pestering public employees but making public service transparent,” he reminded, pledging security of information providers.
During the programme, Chief Information Commissioner at NIC, Mahendra Man Gurung, thanked Nepal government for its role and support for the practice, protection and promotion of RTI. He also committed to forwarding further activities so that RTI regime would be expanded and strengthened across the country.
On the occasion, FNJ President Bipul Pokharel said FNJ was active for effective implementation of laws related to RTI. He expressed the belief that democracy would be strong if citizens practice RTI effectively.
Similarly, RTI campaigner Umid Bagchand mentioned that RTI is one of the best tools to empower citizens.
The Commission was established on Baishakh 22, 2065 BS for the protection, promotion and exercise of RTI in accordance with RTI Act, 2064 BS. The Constitution of Nepal has guaranteed RTI as the fundamental right.
On the occasion, President Paudel presented awards to information officers and campaigners for their outstanding performance related to RTI.
Parshuram Sah of Siraha municipality-7, Yadunath Banjara of Pokhara metropolitan city, Indra Prasad Banjara of Hetauda sub-metropolis-8 and Aditya Dahal of Melamchi municipality-10 received ‘Binay Kasajoo Best RTI Campaigner Award’.
Best Information Officer Award was presented to Lalit Bahadur Budha of Panchadewal Binayak municipality in Achham, Kishor Kumar Waiba of Ghyanglekh rural municipality in Sindhuli, Tul Bahadur BK of Galkot municipality in Baglung, Tek Bahadur Khatri of Dangisharan rural municipality in Dang and Dambar Rogu of Dhankuta municipality.
Section officer at the Commission Harihar Karki, nayab subba Shanta Neupane, accountant Laxman Aryal and computer operator Gaurab Gurung were awarded with Best Employee Award.

13- Govt approves Rs 13.33 billion concessional loan
Kathmandu, May 4: The government has decided to approve around Rs 13.33 billion concessional loan to be provided by the World Bank.
The recent Cabinet decision was made public at a news conference organised at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on May 3.
Similarly, the government has given approval for the participation of Attorney General Dr Dinmani Pokharel and Deputy Attorney General Sanjeev Raj Regmi in the ‘Regional Programme for South Asia’ to be organised in New Delhi on May 7.
On the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, informed that the Cabinet endorsed India visit of Chief Election Commissioner, Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, from May 4 to 9 to observe the general election taking place in India.
The government also gave permission to revise the design of Nepali currency note with denomination of Rs 100 by replacing the old map of Nepal in the background with new administrative map.
According to Minister Sharma, the government decided to approve the draft of the MoU to be signed between the Supreme Court of Nepal and that of India for judicial cooperation. Chief registrar or registrars of the highest court of the both countries will sign the MoU.
Even the MoU on establishment of a consultative mechanism between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal and of Spain has been endorsed, ad approval given to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to sign the MoU.
Other decisions made in the meeting include appointment of former judge of High Court Shrawan Kumar Gautam as the Chairperson of the Problematic Cooperatives Management Committee. The National Information and Technology Development Committee (Formation) Order, 2058 has been backtracked.
The government also transferred some secretaries.

14- PM Dahal vows development of Mahankal
Patan, May 4: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said development issues of Mahankal, a remote place of Lalitpur district, would be incorporated in the policy and programmes for the forthcoming fiscal year. Agriculture and religious tourism in this region would be given a boost, he reminded.
PM Dahal said it while inaugurating the Bagmati Province-level inter-municipality volleyball competition held in memory of Prakash Dahal. The tournament organized by the Pragya Memorial Foundation kicked off at Mahankal rural municipality, Lalitpur.
“I realized that this area, despite its location in the Kathmandu Valley, is neglected in development. It is imperative to expand the road to ensure Kathmandu visit in an hour,” he said, adding that forthcoming budget will incorporate the agenda of road expansion.
Moreover, he assured that federal government would take initiative to announce Mahankal rural municipality as a tourist destination. The Head of Government also reminded that volleyball was announced as the national sport of Nepal during his second stint as PM. He urged the players to perform in a disciplined manner.
On the occasion, Mahankal rural municipality Chairperson Ganesh Bahadur KC urged the PM for his positive intervention in budget to introduce site of religious tourism in the rural municipality as it is home to Baitarnidham, Kaleshwor Mahadev Temple, Longtong Stupa, and Simba waterfall.
Likewise, coordinator of the competition, Dolma Maya Gole, expressed her confidence that the sport would aid in opening the door of opportunities for development and promotion of agriculture and religious tourism in the area.
In the inaugural match being held in the premises of Mahankal Secondary School at Mahankal rural municipality, Mahankal rural municipality A and Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City of Makawanpur are competing. There are 17 teams vying in the competition.
The winning team will take home Rs 300,000 cash prize while those trailing it will get Rs 200,000 and those two teams finishing third will obtain Rs 100,000 each.
The top best players and coaches will receive Rs 50,000 each. Nepal Volleyball Association has provided technical assistance to the competition organized in support of the National Sports Council and the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council.

15- PM says new budget will focus underprivileged class, region
Kathmandu, May 4: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the upcoming fiscal year’s policy and programme, and budget would focus the concerns of underprivileged classes and regions lagging behind in national development indicators.
Addressing the 10th full meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre)’s parliamentary party meeting, the Maoist Centre Chairman and Prime Minister Prachanda shared that the new budget would be prepared by taking lessons from past experiences.
“Policy and programme, and budget will be brought keeping the agendas of good-governance, social justice and prosperity in the centre, and to uplift the underprivileged ones,” Maoist Centre’s chief whip Hitraj Pandey quoted the PM as saying.
Likewise, the PM directed the ministers from the Maoist Centre to interact with the Maoist Centre’s lawmakers and take their feedback in preparing the budget.
The PM was of the view that the new feedback should be to uplift the communities in Madhes including the surroundings from Postal Highway, Karnali, Dalits and the oppressed communities.
Likewise, the PM asked the lawmakers to offer their feedback for production growth and employment creation and share the recommendations from the experts of diverse sectors to the government through the party. During the meeting, the Maoist Centre lawmakers suggested that the new budget should address the people’s expectations amid the ongoing status of limited resources.
Chief Whip Pandey said that the meeting decided to make the upcoming parliamentary session systematic and effective and pass the bills from the thematic committees.

16- PM pledges better socioeconomic development in Tarai
Sarlahi, May 4: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that he was committed to the dignity of Madhesi people and their socioeconomic development.
Addressing a mass meeting at Balara of Sarhali to welcome different people in the CPN (Maoist Centre) on Saturday, the PM and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman expressed confidence that people in Madhes would stand for their liberation since public awakening has been created there lately.
The PM stated that his government has worked with top priority to address the issues of the usury victims and those deprived of citizenship. In his speech, the PM reiterated his stance to seriously address the concerns of Madhes in the coming days as well adding that the upcoming fiscal year’s budget will accord top priority to the agendas of Madhes.
He shared that irrigation and electrification drives are the priority in Tarai adding that productivity will not increase without irrigation supply. “Irrigation supply in Madhes is my first priority,” PM Dahal added.
Expressing serious concerns about the ongoing incidences of fire taking place across the country, the PM pledged to provide relief to the fire victims. The PM shared that the government has decided to provide Rs 50,000 per household for immediate relief assistance to the fire victims.
On the occasion, a large number of party leaders and cadres from Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Janata Samajwadi Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party and other political parties defected to join the Maoist Centre.
Earlier, the PM inaugurated the newly constructed building of Janata Namuna Secondary School at Balara of Gadhiya Dumariya Municipality, Sarlahi.

17- Nepal wins final match against West Indies ‘A’ in T20 Series
Kathmandu, May 4: Nepal has defeated West Indies ‘A’ by six wickets in the final match of T20- Series held on Saturday.
Earlier, West Indies ‘A’ had defeated Nepal in three consecutive matches in the series. Nepal had won the first match against West Indies ‘A’ by four wickets.
Nepal was defeated by 10 runs, 76 runs and 28 runs in the second, third and fourth match respectively. Put to bat first after winning the toss in Kirtipur-based TU Cricket Ground today, West Indies made 172 runs in 20 overs losing seven wickets.
Alick Athanaze scored the highest 42 runs for West Indies ‘A’, while Roston Chase 33 runs, Johnson Charles 24 runs, Matthew Forde 23 runs, Kadeem Alleyne 11 runs and Mark Deyal 11 runs. Towards bowling, Nepal’s Sompal Kami and Sagar Dhakal took three wickets each while Abinash Bohara took one wicket.
Chasing the target of 173 posted by West Indies ‘A’, Nepal met the target in 18.5 overs at the loss of four wickets. It became easier for Nepal to win the match after Kushal Malla scored 37 runs (not out) off 18 balls. Similarly, Asif Sheikh contributed 51 runs while Anil Shah stroke 58 runs, Kushal Bhurtel 13 and Dipendra Singh Airee five runs.

19- Bangalore’s HCG Hospital collaborating Nepal in cancer treament
Kathmandu, May 4: The HCG Cancer Hospital Bangalore is collaborating with Nepal-based Action Nepal and Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) for cancer control. The collaboration is being made with the help of oncologists at UICC.
At a programme organized here today by HCG, Dr Bishal Rao of the hospital shared that the collaboration will help improve access to world-class cancer treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, care in Nepal
Along with cooperation, the scope of service expansion will help provide free cancer screening camps throughout Nepal, regular scientific seminars and medical education, capacity building training for doctors. It will also provide cancer surgery services along with early diagnosis and treatment protocols for cancer patients.
On this occasion, Dr. Rao informed that primary cancer care and support, research and patient-centered expertise will be continuously provided. He expressed happiness over the permission given by Nepal government to HCG surgeons to perform cutting-edge surgery in various hospitals across Nepal.
Dr. Rao mentioned that one out of every ten people may suffer from cancer in next ten years if the current situation is not improved. He emphasized the need to reduce the consumption of tobacco and alcohol in a way that consequences are visible. He said the excessive use of pesticides in vegetables and fruits is also increasing the risk of cancer.
This collaboration will provide an opportunity to make international level cancer treatment services accessible to the citizens of Nepal suffering from cancer.

Janakpur, 4 May: The Jayanagar-Janakpur-Bhangaha train services will remain closed for three days in view of the Loksabha election in India.

As it has to be closed for 24 hours before the election, the Jayanagar-Janakpur-Bhangaha train service will not operate from tomorrow, according to the notice issued by the general manager of the company, Niranjan Jha.
According to the decision of Border District Coordination Committee comprising representatives from both Nepal and India, the train service will remain completely closed until next Tuesday.

Kathmandu, May 4: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha said the State would play a guardian role to address the importance and need of child justice.
At a national workshop on child justice organized in Kathmandu today, he said the State would play a parental role to address the importance and needs of child justice taking it an an important dimension of child rights. “It is the responsibility of every civilized nation to ensure proper and effective implementation of child justice. Therefore, Nepal is also committed to it. ”
The government is preparing to establish a separate children’s court in the Kathmandu Valley in the current fiscal year, he pointed out that several challenges were prevailing despite various efforts to strengthen the child justice system.
On the occasion, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India, Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud said that children are the future of the society. “Children go through different dimensions of society. Due to family breakdown, domestic violence, poverty or other reasons, they do not get necessary guidance and are negatively affected,” he said.
There was a need to pay attention to all angles in providing justice to the children. Chandrachud stressed the need to raise voice on behalf of the children, especially from the marginalized and backward communities.
He said the risk of cybercrime has increased all over the world and children are mainly targeted. On the occasion, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Padam Giri stressed the need of formulating necessary acts and laws to address the problems in the children’s sector. “Nepal has signed the Convention on the Children as a party and we are committed and determined to abide by it in letter and spirit,” he said, adding, “Although many treaties and laws have been adopted, there is a need to stand firm in implementing them in practice. “We will take concrete steps in the future”.

22- ‘Global challenges could be averted thru Buddhist teaching’
Lumbini, May 4: Buddhist monks and experts from different countries who have arrived in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, said that challenges surfacing in the world could be averted through Buddhist teachings.
They also insisted on promoting Buddhist education to make it useful for life in order to end natural imbalance, animosity and mutual disharmony seen in the world. Thailand’s Prof Dr Monk Sugandha (Anil Shakya) said Buddha’s teachings are essential to lead a person’s life to a positive direction. He said Buddha’s teaching is important to maintain friendship, compassion and peace in the world and expressed his belief that such seminars will help for developing shared understanding.
Likewise, Dr. Ramesh Chandra Paudel, a member of the National Planning Commission, opined for utilizing the Buddhist teaching in a practical way. He further argued the development of peace and fraternity will increase when Buddhist education is promoted by connecting nearly one billion Buddhist followers in the world. Lumbini Buddhist University Vice-Chancellor Suvarna Lal Bajracharya said that the seminar will play an important role in sharing insights and viewpoints in the propagation of Buddhist education, exchanging educational and cultural values and contributing to the global promotion of Buddhist values.
Dr. Manikaratna Shakya, Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, said it is necessary to use Buddhist teachings in practical life to address global challenges. Also speaking on the occasion, Chinese Bhante Dawjin, Japan’s Kohji Ohkura, Myanmar’s Monk Shovit, Mongolia’s Sen Negui, Nepal’s Khangs or Rimpoche expressed urged everyone to follow Buddhist education as it is essential practical knowledge for life.
On the first day of the symposium, Dr. Shovit Shakya from Estonia, Prof Dr Bijoy Baruwa from Bangladesh, and monk Vinay Nanda from Myanmar discussed how Buddhist education and good governance could be used. Dr. Sachini Hansika from Sri Lanka, Mathew Ricard from France, the happiest person in the world, emphasized that it is necessary to implement Buddha’s teachings in life for happiness, peace and non-violence.
Similarly, Prof. Dr. Uday Kumar from India, Prof. Dr. SattSandar from Myanmar, Prof. Dr. Kristi Chang from Taiwan, Bhikshu Buddhaghosh from Myanmar, Dr. Sonia Gomes from Portugal and others said that it is necessary to embrace Buddhist education to make people morally responsible.
Writers Sonu Gurung, Mohan Singh Gurung, Vikshu Calson and others commented on the working paper at the programme. Buddhist monks and experts from various countries including Nepal, Thailand, France, Estonia, Myanmar, Japan, Bangladesh, India, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Portugal, and Norway are participating in the seminar.
Acharya Balakrishna, Dr. Chintamani Yogi, Bhanu Sharma, Prof. Dr. Vishal Sitaula, Prof. Dr. Kshitij Barakoti and Dr. Vikasananda will present papers on Buddhist philosophy and yoga. There will be a discussion on the papers on Sunday .

23- CPN (Unified Socialist) to invite 600 parties and organizations from abroad for national congress
Kathmandu, May 4: The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) has invited around 600 parties and organizations from various countries to its upcoming 10th national congress.
In the ninth meeting of the party’s foreign affairs department today, it was shared that the preliminary responses have been received from 22 countries, including Bangladesh, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, France, Romania, Australia in this regard.
In the meeting held at the party office, Aloknagar, Kathmandu under the chairmanship of Jhalnath Khanal, the respected leader and department head, discussed inviting foreign communist parties, left-wing parties and progressive organizations to the congress.
The convention of the party will be held from June 30 to July 4 in Kathmandu.

24- Newari, Tamang to be used as official languages
Makawanpur, May 4: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Cooperative of Bagmati Province, Shailendra Man Bajracharya, has said that the province government would use the Newari and Tamang languages as the official languages. He shared that the two languages would be brought into use as the official ones from May 6.
Briefly taking to the RSS, Bajracharya said an inaugural programme would be organised at 9:00 am on May 6 at Basantapur in Kathmandu to mark the beginning of the official business of the two languages in all government officials in the province.
He also shared that a rally with traditional costumes would visit the thoroughfares in the city starting at 7:00 am from Basantapur on the same day. Likewise, the Bagmati Province Government has announced a public holiday on the day to celebrate the formal beginning of the official use of the Newari and Tamang languages.

25- Dhunche Gosaikunda cable car should be built: chairman Oli
Rasuwa, May 4: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli has emphasized on the construction of Dhunche Gosaikund cable car.
Inaugurating the ninth session of CPN (UML) Rasuwa district today in Dhunche, chairman Oli said that a cable car is necessary for the pilgrims and devotees to easily reach the holy site.
Since the development of the cable car will not affect the habitat of red pandas here, everyone should help from their end to make it possible, the former PM said. Oli urged everyone not to engage in divisive activities among individuals or communities, leaving aside development issues noting they should move forward with the pro-people development works.
Chairman Oli said if the 24 km tunnel is built, it will be possible to reach Betravati from Syafrubensi in half an hour.
