Kathmandu, May 7: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has informed that some parts in Bagmati and Koshi provinces are witnessing light rainfall now due to the low pressure system generated in the vicinity of Bihar, India along with the westerly and local winds.
Similarly, Department forecast that some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces will see moderate rainfall along with lightning, thunder and storm in the day, while some parts of Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces are predicted heavy rainfall.
Few places in the upper hilly and mountainous region of the country will have light snowfall.
In the coming night, partial change in weather is expected.
The Department has requested the concerned sides for precaution in the wake of changes in weather. Agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and road and air transports res reminded of safety measures.

01- CPN (Unified Socialist) demands pro-people budget
Kathmandu, May 7: The parliamentary party meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has demanded the government that it brought a pro-people budget.
The meeting presided over by Party Chairman and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal decided to raise people’s concern vibrantly in the forthcoming federal parliament session and suggest the government that it made policies and programmes constructive.
Chief whip of the party, Metmani Chaudhari, informed that they would play an active role in the parliament.
The meeting also attended by the party’s lawmakers dwelt on contemporary issues and latest political development. The party is also for strengthening internal unity and raise people’s voice on country’s socioeconomic and political issues.

02- Campaign launched for quality education in community schools
Siraha, May 7: Siraha municipality in the district has launched a campaign for quality education in the community schools. As part of the campaign, the municipality inspected whether all students got textbooks on the very day the new academic session began and the schools took entrance exam to the new students.
The local level also distributed awards and uniforms to the diligent students. The municipality has decided to conduct free health check up of students twice a year, help schools create better learning atmosphere. It is for eco-friendly and child-friendly environment in the schools.
In this connection, the municipality on Sunday distributed uniforms to 386 students from Grade 1 to 5 at the Shree Basic School at Baspitta of Siraha municipality-6. The local level has been working actively for children’s school enrollment, according to Baliram Yadav, chief executive officer.
Yadav underlined, “Unless community schools provide quality education, society can not be informed well. Time has come for better coordination among all three-tier of government to improve education in community schools,”

03- Livestock farmers receive tree fodder’s seeds
Mahottari, May 7: The livestock farmers from Matihani in the district have been provided tree fodder’s seeds.
They got the seeds of tree fodders (dale ghans) under the small farmers and youth entrepreneurship scheme. The Matihani municipality and Heifer Project jointly provided the seeds of bakaino (meliaceae), maidalo and bhatmase. These are nutritive foods for livestock.
More than 200 women associated with various groups were provided the seeds of nutritive dale ghans, according to Mahesh Yadav, project coordinator.
After receiving the support, Bimala Khatwe from Matihani-2 shared, “We were forced to collect grass even during adverse time, but we will sow the seeds which would be good tree fodder in near future.”
Lalita Devi Mandal from Matihani-3 and Bachchhi Devi Safi from Matihani-9 also shared happiness over the support for livestock feed.
The nutritive food for the cattle will be available at their farmstead soon, they univocally said.
With the support from project, the women associated with various groups have been keeping hybrid goats and heifers.
Matihani municipality mayor Hari Prasad Mandal informed that the project had supported the women well and it helps them make good income. The livestock farming has made them financially stable.
Mayor Mandal further said they have been providing technical support along with seedlings and seeds of fruit, vegetable and cereals. The recent project has encouraged women to keep goat and heifers, he added.
Another farmer from Matihani-2, Sujita Yadav, viewed, “We are gradually becoming self-reliant with the project support. We feel confident that we can do anything on our own for family income.”
Moreover, the project provided few laptops and printers to seven women cooperatives to facilitate in office works and data management.
The women’s cooperatives also received crates to carry locally produced fruits and vegetables to the market.

05- Financial assistance to fire victims
Khotang, May 7: The households suffering a fire incident at Salle of Halesi Tuwachung municipality-9 have been provided monetary support.
Rs 176,000 collected from school teachers and other generous people in the district was provided to the victim families who lost their property in the fire. The fire was spread to their houses from the forest fire on April 26.
Seven families displaced after the blaze got the monetary support. A total of 152 teachers extended support.
Dipak Bambule, a teacher at Kalika Basic School of Nawalpur, coordinated the campaign to collect monetary assistance for the needy ones. Each family was given the assistance ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 45,000 based on the loss they incurred.
Those losing entire property in their houses got maximum- Rs 45,000.
The monetary assistance was handed over to the victim families in the presence of ward chairman Kashi Raj Rai.
The local administration had reported the loss of about Rs 13 million in the blaze.
Police informed that 99 houses have perished in multiple fire incidents occurred in the district since last July.

06- Lightning claims toddler, injures three
Achham, May 7: A toddler from Melkatiya of Ramaroshan rural municipality-7 in the district died in a lightning last night.
The lightning killed six-year-old Gaurab Bhandari, a son of Kamal Bhandari, according to Kadka Bahadur Bhandari, former ward chairman.
Meanwhile, three persons of a same family were injured, while their house destroyed in a lightning occurred in Dadeldhura district on Monday evening.
The thunder bolt hit Devaki Pandeya, his spouse Chandrawati Devi and son Dipesh from Koteuda of Amargadhi municipality-3.
A local Bishnu Pandeya informed that the injured ones are however out of risk.

07- DPM Yadav returns home
Kathmandu, May 7: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, returned home early this morning after attending the 57th meeting of the UN Population and Development Commission in New York, USA.
During his stay in New York, DPM held high level meetings including with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and said Nepal would extend full support for making UN further effective.
Similarly, in the Commission’s meeting, DPM Yadav threw light on the increasing impact of climate change in the least developed countries including Nepal. He also underlined the need for international cooperation and multilateralism to tackle pressing issues of time.
