Dadeldhura, July 7: A person died in a landslide occurred in the district on Saturday. Nabaraj Paneru, 56, from Bunga of Parshuram municipality-3 was hit by a stone hurled during a landslide.
Paneru, a local teacher, died on the spot, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dipak Karki. Paneru was hit by a stone at Bhatgada of Parshuram-1 while he was returning after cleaning the source of drinking water.
Similarly, the rains occurred for three days triggered landslides at several places along the Bhimdatta Highway.The Seti highway was also blocked due to landslips at several places. However, the debris has been cleared to open a one-way route. The Budar-Jogbudha road blocked since Saturday is yet to resume.
Landslips deposited on the road near Sunkhola stream could not be removed due to continuous rains, according to Parshuram municipality mayor Bharat Joshi.

27- New coalition for economic drive: Chair Oli
Kathmandu, July 7: CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said the new coalition was for giving a boost to the national economy that has been dented for some time. He made it clear that UML was forming a new government with NC as a ruling partner so that national economy could be revived.
During his address to the parliamentary party meeting held at parliament building, New Baneshwor on Sunday, Chairman Oli argued it is a national need to intensify development works, for which coalition government with NC was required.
Also the former prime minister, Chairman Oli reminded that UML had worked together with NC as the country faced crises. The UML involved in the historic revolutions of 2046BS and 2062/63Bs together with NC.
On the occasion, chief whip Mahesh Bartaula shared that the party had reminded Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal not to make any decision of long term importance because he was already in a minority government.
Similarly, he called on PM Dahal to pave way for formation of a national government by stepping down at the earliest.
The PM is scheduled to face floor test on July 12.

28- Three persons held with 14-kg silver
Kathmandu, July 7: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested three persons along with silver jewelries weighing 14.25 kg.
Those arrested were Indian nationals Aman Kumar, 22; Biki Kumar Saha, 26; and Shravan Prasad Kanu, 34, from Liparnibirta-6, Parsa, according to Hobindra Bogati, Superintendent of Police.
The jewelries were found hidden in an Indian vehicle (BR 06 U 9053) and kept in an auto workshop service of Sano Gaucharan, Kathmandu. Those arrested ones were found involved in sales and distribution of illegal jewelries to the Revenue Investigation Department.
The CIB had acted on a tip off that a car with Indian number plate was heading to Kathmandu from Lalitpur, which had carried silver jewelries.
They were arrested two days back.

29- NC, UML demand Sodari’s resignation
Kailali, July 7: The Nepali Congress and the CPN UML have demanded resignation of Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Dirgha Bahadur Sodari.
Issuing a joint press statement on Sunday, the NC and UML demanded Chief Minister Sodari to resign from the post and pave way for the formation of a new government.
The joint statement has been signed by parliamentary party leader of NC, Kamal Bahadur Shah, and parliamentary party leader of UML, Rajendra Singh Rawal.
“As the government hast lost its majority of support, we urge it not to take any long term decision except daily works,” they mentioned. In the wake of NC-UML agreement for formation of a coalition government in the federal level, the UML has already withdrawn its support to Sodari-led government in the province.
The withdrawal has left the government in minority. Leader of CPN (Unified Socialist), Sodari was elected Chief Minister in Sudurpaschim Province with the support of UML and CPN (Maoist Centre), and a group of Nagarik Unmukti Party led by Ranjita Shrestha.

30- Diyalo Bangla opened for general public
Chitwan, July 8: The Diyalo Bangla of Bharatpur was opened for all from Sunday.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Hit Bahadur Tamang inaugurated the Diyalo Bangla allowing everyone to visit the historical palace, which is now under the Nepal Trust.
The palace was opened for the general public at the request of the Bharatpur Metropolitan City Office. On the occasion, Minister Tamang said that the palace will be vital for visitors and researchers alike adding that opening the Diyalo Bangla for everyone was a great move to make the Bharatpur Visit Year 2024 a success.
He argued that more tourists would visit Bharatpur after the beginning of the night flight there at Bharatpur Airport after its expansion and more tourists would also visit the palace.
Likewise, Mayor of Bharatpur Renu Dahal said the palace was opened for all with the consensus of the Nepal Trust and added that the general public can visit the palace, ending their curiosity. She shared that a guideline will be prepared for the systematic operation of the Diyalo Bangla and the visitors will get free entrance until the guideline is prepared.
The metropolitan city is working to promote this palace as a key tourist destination in the town. As agreed between the Nepal Trust and Bharatpur Metropolitan City, the two institutions will share the revenue with 60 per cent to the Nepal Trust.

31- Three Yarsha looters nabbed in Mugu
Mugu, July 7: Police held three persons along with arms for their alleged involvement in the looting of Yarsha from Mugu.
The District Police Office, Mugu, made public those three persons on Sunday by organizing a news conference. Those arrestees include Ganesh Bhandari, Purna Prasad Bhandari and Kamal Thapa of Guthichaur Rural Municipality in Jumla district.
They were held along with the arms from a highland near Chanelekh of Patarashi Rural Municipality-3 in Jumla, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Birendra Thapa said. DSP Thapa said that five others involved in the wrongdoings are still absconding.
A gang of eight people looted properties in the Dolphu village of Karmarong Rural Municipality-1 on May 28. The gang looted 35 tola of gold, 994 tola of gold, Buddha’s idol, Yarsha, muga necklace of 95 tola, mobile phones and Rs 5 million in cash.

32- Investigative news helps build good governance: CM Kandel
Kathmandu, July 7: Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Yam Lal Kandel, has said investigative news stories help government improve its works so that good governance could be built.
Addressing a concluding session of the two-day orientation on parliamentary reporting organized for the province level journalists at Surkhet on Sunday, CM Kandel urged the investigative journalists to expose irregularities in society, public agencies and government.
The orientation was organized by the Society of Journalists on Parliamentary Reporting in coordination with Minister of Internal Affairs and Law in Karnali Province. “If the news is written avoiding facts, they cause untoward results. So, journalists should write without favour,” he underlined, expressing hope that the orientation had helped journalists build capacity in parliamentary reporting.
Similarly, ministry secretary Rabi Lal Sharma said the orientation on parliamentary reporting was useful to cater knowledge on the activities of the Province Assembly and role of the Assembly Members.

33- RSP asks govt. to expedite rescue, relief and rehabilitation jobs
Kathmandu, July 7: The ruling Rastriya Swotantra Party (RSP) has demanded that the government take effective measures for the search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation works for those affected by flooding, landslide, inundation and other natural disasters.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the RSP has drawn the attention of the responsible agencies for taking rightful steps in the disaster-affected sites.
The RSP has termed the government’s disaster preparedness and the efforts for search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation jobs praiseworthy but has cautioned the stakeholders about the possibility of lacking of government mechanisms in the affected sites.
Saying that a huge amount of property was damaged in the flooding and landslide caused due to rain in the past couple of days, the RSP has urged all to unite in the rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts adding that people have suffered badly. —
