TU asks Chitwan Medical College to return extra payment

Published Date : September 20, 2019

Kathmandu, Sept 20: The Tribhuvan University (TU) has urged Chitwan Medical College and Sciences of Bharatpur, Chitwan, to return the extra payment it imposed on the students by exceeding the fee set by the government for the MBBS study.

The students in the College have been protesting for two weeks, claiming that the College administration charged them additional amount than that of government set fees.

The cabinet meeting on October 14, 2018 had set a fee of Rs 3.85 million for MBBS students inside the Kathmandu Valley and Rs 4.24 million outside the Valley under the faculty of medical sciences.

Issuing a press statement on Friday, TU advised the agitating students to take part in the talk called by the College administration. “TU stands by the belief that dialogue is the resolution of this problem,” read the statement.

TU has also suggested the agitating students not to disrupt the teaching learning activities in the College and not to create any hurdles in the sensitive place like hospital.
