Gandaki State Assembly session passes Transportation Bill

Pokhara, Oct 2 : A meeting of the Gandaki State Assembly on Tuesday passed the Bill Designed to Make Arrangements for Province Vehicles and Transportation.

The Assembly unanimously passed a proposal tabled by the State government minister for physical infrastructure and development, Ram Sharan Basnet, seeking passage of the bill. Along with the bill, he had also presented the Legislation Committee’s report.

Speaking in the discussions on the bill before this, lawmakers expressed concern that Pokhara’s traffic management was becoming unsystematic and problematic as Kathmandu’s and urged the State government to become aware in time before the situation became unmanageable.

Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung said it was the responsibility of all, including the ruling side and the opposition side, to make the State best in terms of transportation management and other facilities. He added that collective efforts were needed for this.

The Chief Minister informed that important Acts and laws like the University Act, the Province Public Service Commission and Transportation Act, among others were enacted during the current session of the State Assembly.

The main opposition party Nepali Congress’ parliamentary party leader Krishna Chandra Pokharel said the government has not been able to give adequate work to the State Assembly and urged it to pay attention to this topic in the days ahead.

State Assembly session prorogued Meanwhile, the Gandaki State Assembly’s monsoon session has prorogued from 12 pm on Tuesday.

Assembly speaker Netra Nath Adhikari read out a letter received from the State Chief Baburam Kunwar’s office informing that the State Assembly session has been prorogued from 12 pm on Tuesday.

The State Assembly passed six various bills in this session.
