Chitwan, Oct 15 : A cold store has been constructed at Ichhakamana rural municipality-4, Kurintar of Chitwan.
Small Farmers Cooperative Organization Limited took the initiative for the setup of the cold store.
Nar Bahadur Nepal, chairperson of the cooperative organization, shared the cold store was constructed with the investment of Rs 3.5 million from federal government’s Terai-Madhesh Prosperity Programme and 10 percent funding from the cooperative on its own.
Nepal said the cold store was built to keep the agro products, vegetable and fruits afresh when they are not sold out in the market.
The cold store is coming into operation soon, he informed, adding the limited capacity store will be gradually expanded as per the need of the local farmers.
Ichhakamana rural municipality chair Geeta Kumari Gurung said the local government would provide full support to the operation of the cold store.
The rural municipality has put forth a programme to provide with grant amount up to Rs 100,000 for commercial agro framing in unused land.
