Remittance services agreement between GIBL and Bank Albilad

Kathmandu, Oct 23 : A formal remittance services have begun between Global IME Bank of Nepal and Bank Albilad of Saudi Arabia.

A launching ceremony to this was organized at Albilad’s head office in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

The customers can use Bank Albilad’s more than 180 branches and counters of Saudi Arabia to send money easily to Nepal. Likewise, the customers of Nepal can receive money by using more than 15,000 agents of the Global IME Bank, IME and GME.

The Bank Albilad has a famous Enjaj remittance as well.

The chief guest of the launching ceremony was Prof Dr Mahendra Prasad Singh, the Nepali Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. On the occasion the senior executives of both the banks were present.

While addressing the ceremony Ambassador Singh said that the new initiative will facilitate people to send money to Nepal more easily. It will even help to attract Saudi investments in Nepal, he said.

Mr Chandra Prasad Dhakal, the Chairman of Global IME Bank, said that the agreement between two big banks may help to send remittance to Nepal. “The Bank is fully dedicated to make easy the remittance services, ” he said, adding “it will benefit the country as well.”

An agreement to this regard was signed some five months back. Acting CEO of the Global IME Bank Mahesh Sharma Dhakal and General Manager of Bank Albilad had signed on the agreement.

The Global IME Bank is providing remittance services from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Malaysia, India, UK, Australia, South Korea, Japan and Jordan, the bank states.
