Nepali Congress to determine candidates for by-election Thursday

Kathmandu, Oct 30 : The major opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has called a meeting of its office-bearers on Thursday to determine the names of candidates to vie for the upcoming by-election representing NC.

The by-election is scheduled for November 30 this year.

According to NC’s chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel, the names of the candidates sent by NC’s local level, district level and province level will be discussed among the office-bearers before selecting them.

The meeting will be held at NC’s President Sher Bahdur Deuba’s private residence at Budhanilakantha. Issues such as preparation of by-election, contemporary politics and formation of NC’s central departments among others will be discussed in the meeting, according to NC.

The NC has also called a meeting of Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting on November 1 at 1 pm to reach a conclusion on the issues to be discussed tomorrow.

The by-election is taking place to elect people’s representatives in 37 districts across the country for a total of 52 posts lying vacant in local level, the Province Assembly and the House of Representative.
