Published Date : November 13, 2019

Nawalpur : Wildlife corridor is to be constructed at several places along the Narayangadh- Butwal section of the East-West Highway in the course of expanding it.

It is said bridge-like structure is to be constructed to facilitate the movement of wild animals. At least 15 such bridges will be constructed in Nawalpur area of East Nawalparasi under the Narayangadh- Butwal section of the highway, Sujan Adhikari, chief of the Road Expansion Project Eastern Sector, said.

The bridges will be constructed from Gaindakot to Daunne, the first section of the Narayangadh-Butwal road stretch, as this is mostly the forest area. The buffer zone of the Chitwan National Park also lies close to this area.

The wildlife corridor would be constructed after scoping out the areas where there is greater movement of wild animals.

According to Adhikari, these structures would be constructed providing passage to the wild animals underneath the highway. The existing culverts constructed on the highway would be upgraded into wildlife passage at nearly 10 places.
