Pokhara : The competition of skydiving themed ‘Pokhara Skydiving-2019’ has begun in Pokhara from Tuesday.
Organized by the Explore Himalaya Travel and Adventure, the event saw 10 Nepali adventure enthusiasts, including 4 women, participating in the first day of the competition.
Pokhara, a city of lakes, is being developed as a one-stop destination for the adventure-seekers as it is a hub for wide variety of adventurous sports such as paragliding, zip-flyer, canoeing, bungee jumping, rafting, kayaking, hot air balloon, ultra-light aircraft and sky diving and the like.
Organizer Anuj Pandey shared that 160 participants, including 10 Nepalis, will participate in the sky diving competition. A total of 13 foreign experts had trained the participants in the Avia Club at Pame in Pokhara.
Former Miss Nepal Subin Limbu was one of the 4 Nepali women participants of the match. Similarly, Jyoti Hamal of Jumla, another participant, gushed, “Sky diving filled me with a different feeling.” The feel of thrill is why she chose to participate in the competition.
Nepal Tourism Board’s member and tourism entrepreneur Biplov Poudel opined that such adventurous activities would help promote the Visit Nepal 2020 and extend the stay of the tourists in Pokhara. —
