Janakpurdham : President Bidya Devi Bhandari welcomed the marriage procession of symbolic God, Ram, which came from Ayodhya, India, to attend the Sita-Ram Bibaha Panchami Mahotsav, a cultural ceremony reminiscing the Tretayuga.
President Bhandari welcomed the marriage procession during the special ceremony of Sita-Ram marriage- Mahotsav- organized by Sita-Ram Bibaha Panchami Mahotsav -2076 main celebration committee at Bahrabigha of Janakpurdham on Friday. She offered tika to symbolic bride Sita and groom Ram. She also honoured the symbolic Sunayana, spouse of King Janak of Mithila.
The bow of Lord Shiva was broken by Lord Ram at Bahrabigha of Dhanusha as per ‘Ramcharitramanas’ written by Goswami Tulsidas in the Tretayuga.
On the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, observed that the Sita-Ram Bibaha Panchami Mahotsab is strong reminder of cultural relations between Nepal-India for long.
The cultural relations between Abadh and Mithila civilizations since the Tretayug are finely recorded in cultural history, he added.
Similarly, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Padma Kumari Aryal, pointed out the need of giving high respect to Sita-Ram Bibaha Panchami.
Likewise, Chief Minister of State-2, Lalbabu Raut, said it was necessary to give continuity to such cultural relations subsisting between Nepal and India since Tretayuga.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Development of State 2, Jitendra Sonal, said that character of Sita-Ram is inspiring for developed and civilized society. Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri, said that Nepal-India relations are expanded in cultural and religious fronts too.
Mayor of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City, Lal Kishor Shah, and assistant mahantha of Janaki temple, Ram Roshan Das, shed light on the relevance of the festival at a programme organised under the chairmanship of Mahotsav main organising committee and Mahantha of Janaki Temple, Ram Tapeshwor Das.Troupes of artistes from Mithila Drama Academy presented Janaki leela on the occasion.
