Kathmandu : Nepal ended in a 1-1 goal draw against Sri Lanka in men’s football in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games. The match was played at the Dasharath Stadium of Tripureshwor on Wednesday. Nepal’s Captain Sujal Shrestha scored a goal in the 36th minute helping Nepal take the lead.
However, Sri Lanka equaled the match by scoring a goal in injury times by Jorge Supan.
With this triumph, Nepal has got four points from its two matches. Earlier, it defeated Bhutan 4-0. Nepal will take on Maldives on December 7 and Bangladesh on December 8.

Pokhara : Nepal has entered semifinals in badminton in men’s singles and doubles and mix doubles in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games in Pokhara. The match was played at the covered hall of the Pokhara Stadium on Wednesday.
In men’s singles, Nepal’s Ranjit Tamang made it to semifinals while in men’s doubles, a team of Prince Dahal and Praphulla Maharjan. Likewise, in mix doubles, a couple of Bikash Shrestha and Anu Maya Rai reached semifinals.
Tamang defeated Bangladesh’s Sigbat Ullha 21-13 and 23-21 sets. Likewise, a couple of Dahal and Maharjan beat Bhutan’s a pair of Karma Chhendru and Anish Gurung 21-14 and 21-12, while a team of Shrestha and Rai got a walkover against Bhutan’s couple of Anish Gurung and Samjhana Gurung.

Pokhara : Pakistan has taken its hands off archery competition in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games at the eleventh hour citing internal reasons, said Nepal Archery Association. Likewise, India which has been suspended from the World Archery Federation will also not participate in the sport.
Now only remaining Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are vying for the competition scheduled to take place on December 5 to 9.
A total of 16 archers each from three countries will compete for five gold medals in men’s and women’s team recurve (70 meters), men’s and women’s single recurve and mix recurve.
Likewise, the total 57 archers will vie for 10 gold medals in women’s and men’s compound (50 meters), women’s and men’s single compound and mix compound.

Pokhara : Nepal made a strong opening in handball by beating Sri Lanka 29-19 in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games in Pokhara.
The match was played at the multipurpose covered hall at the Pokhara Stadium. For Nepal, Uma Rai scored highest eight goals followed by Kabita Rai hitting six goals.
Uma scored all goals in penalty shootouts. Likewise, Nisha Rai and Kalpana Oli scored four goals each while Captain Ranjana Rai and Durga Bohara two goals each. Bandana Rai, Shanti Kala Rai and Ram Kumari Chaudhary hit one goal each.
For Sri Lanka, Ruwani Dile scored highest seven goals. Likewise, Nade and Sash hit three goals each. Harsika Udaya and Diluksi Aim scored two goals each while Umasika and Chanik scored one goal each.
