Simkot : Elderly citizens, children and people with disabilities have been deprived of receiving social security allowance here.
The right-holders from seven rural municipalities of Humla district have yet to get different types of allowances which was supposed to be provided them before Dashain festival.
Except Changkheli rural municipality, all other six local governments are deferring distribution of social security allowance in the district.
Maina Bohara, a local from Simkot rural municipality-2, complained that they were disappointed for not timely getting allowance which has to be distributed within last Mid-August.
“We wished to buy warm clothes to beat the winter blues but our hope turned to a despair”, she added.
Likewise, Adan Singh Rawat, another folk from Simkot rural municipality-5, voiced his concern that the allowance of first four months has not been distributed to the right holders.
Owing to delay in distribution of allowances, children below five, senior citizen above 60, single and widowed women and people with disability are being denied of their entitlements, locals commented.
However, Chief Executive of Simkot rural municipality, Arjun Darji, clarified delay was caused in distribution of allowances from ward 1 to 8 in absence of accountant. “Distribution of social security allowance has been delayed also due to apathy on part of ward chairpersons in releasing the amount”, he added.
Likewise, the same problem is surfaced at Adanchuli rural municipality of the district. Adanchuli Chair Dal Fadera shared tthe distribution of social security allowance has been delayed since there is only one secretary to look after public service delivery of seven wards.
