Flights stopped in Lukla airport

Lukla: The Khumbu Pasang-Lhamu Rural Village of Solukhumbu has decided to stop flights for indefinite period due to spread of coronavirus in local level.

Issuing a request letter to all airlines companies including Tara, Summit and Sita, and helicopter operators, it will be effective from 23rd of October 2020.

The letter also requests airlines companies not to bring tourists as local hotel staff and other local people were infected with coronavirus in recent days.

The rural municipality has requested to all not visit the municipality area except local residents, civil servants and teachers. The hotels, lodges and other hospitality facilities have been closed.

Lukla airport is the main entrance airport for tourists and adventure travelers to Khumbu region and Mt Everest.
